The palace of Nestor at Englianos is one of the most important monuments of Mycenaean Hellas. The palace reached the peak of its prosperity in 13th century B.C. and was built by the wise Homeric king Nestor. He was fought in the Trojan War that made Pylos the second most important town of Mycenaean world after Mycenae. The palace had never been enclosed with walls, in difference with other Mycenaean towns.
